a prayer

[a past student from our one year worship program sent in this prayer]:

Oh Elohim, whose voice I hear in the winds and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me!
I come before you, one of your many children.
They are small and weak, I need your strength and your wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have created,
and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise, so I know the things you have taught my people,
the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and every rock.
I seek strength, not to be superior to my brothers,
but to be skillful to fight my greatest enemy – evil

I’m always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes,
so that when my life will vanish as the light at sunset,
my spirit may come to you without shame.

  1. Thanks for posting this Walter, as you may know from Rosalie, my mother, her grandmother, passed away 10 days ago and her memorial service is today… this was very timely for me to read this early morning, sleep is coming slow and I am feeling “small and weak’ but “He is strong” in my need!
